Eminem released a music video for the album's first single, “Not Afraid”, on November 19, 2010, which was directed by Anthony Mandler. The video premiered via YouTube and Vevo. Pitchfork Media gave the song a favorable review, stating that “Eminem is a master of pitching his own wretchedness to our own.” The song peaked at number two on the Hot 100, and also on the Canadian Hot 100, the UK Singles Chart, and the Australian ARIA Charts. “Not Afraid” debuted at number one on the US Billboard Hot Digital Songs chart and at number two on the Hot 100. The song was nominated for two 2010 Grammy Awards, “Best Rap Song” and “Best Rap Album”.
The album was supported by the promotional tour for “Not Afraid”;. The first show was on December 3, 2010, at the House of Blues in Anaheim, California. It was the first Eminem show in four years, and a month after his last concert at the Hollywood Bowl in 2009. He mentioned during the tour that he will go back to the studio to write more songs for his next album.
