Twelvefour (marketed as twelvefour) is the second album by Australian band The Paper Kites, released on 28 August 2015 by Wonderlick Entertainment and Sony Music Australia. The album's release was preceded by lead single "Electric Indigo", released on 19 June 2015. Its video, directed by Matthew J Cox, was released on 13 July. The second single, "Revelator Eyes", followed in September with a video directed by Dan Huiting. "Renegade", the third single, was released along with a video in April 2016.
twelvefour debuted at number 8 on the Australian ARIA Albums Chart on 5 September 2015. The band embarked on a tour of Australia from 16 October to 8 November 2015 in support of the album. They then toured the United States and Canada across November and December 2015, and Europe in January and February 2016. A film directed by Cox depicting the process of making the album was announced for release later in 2015, but has yet to surface.
Achieving a bigger and bolder sound, the group travelled to Seattle to record with Grammy-nominated producer Phil Ek (Father John Misty, Manchester Orchestra, Fleet Foxes, The Shins). As such, twelvefour is lush and intimate: think drum machines, dirtier guitars mixed with soulful, smooth synth moment. Plentiful late night vibes.
Sam Bentley's band The Paper Kites just released their second album twelvefour, a bold and beautifully expressed exploration of nighttime moods and shadowy thoughts. Sam was kind enough to answer a few questions about the new record, the band's creative identity, staying up all night, and what things have been liking moving forward from their first album.
With a second studio album (twelvefour) under their belt, The Paper Kites are about to embark on an extensive tour this fall, which will see the quintet visit various cities across Europe and North America.
The Australian band The Paper Kites that is made up of Sam Bentley, Christina Lacy, David Powys, Josh Bentley and Sam Rasmussen have just released their video for Electric Indigo, a song out of their new album twelvefour that will be released on August 28th 2015. We have been following the band already for a few years, and their sound has lost nothing of its initial charm. It´s music you can gently wake up to, keep motivated while working away your piles, dance at a festival to or simply enjoy it pure at any time.
